Forest fires kept local fire departments on high alert this weekend.
Firefighters from several area departments spent late Sunday battling fires on Brock Mountain near the Independence and Cleburne County line.
Other local fire companies were on the scene of a large fire near Sandtown Road between Cave City and Cushman which is estimated to have consumed more than 1,000 acres. So far, no injuries have been reported.
While no official burn bans are in place in the state, our area remains at a moderate to high risk of wildfires due to dry and windy conditions.
