A Salem man was arrested on drug and trespassing charges after being found asleep in a stranger’s home in Horseshoe Bend.
According to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Marc Boyd was dispatched to a residence on Mobile Lane on Aug. 8 after the homeowner returned from work and discovered a man, later identified as Joshua Collins (pictured), 39, asleep in a chair in her living room.
Collins initially claimed the house was his and then said another person had let him in. He fled the scene, leaving behind his boots, a t-shirt, and a ball cap. A methamphetamine pipe and approximately 28 grams of methamphetamine were also found at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
Collins was later located hiding in a closet at a residence on Cameo Lane in Horseshoe Bend. At the time of his arrest, Collins was listed as a probation absconder for previous drug-related felony charges.
Collins has been charged in Izard County Circuit Court with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing on foot, and criminal trespass. He is also charged as a habitual offender due to having more than four prior felony convictions. Additionally, Collins has an outstanding warrant in Sharp County for probation revocation.
