FEMA is offering face-to-face assistance this week in Cushman and Melbourne to help residents recover from the severe storms and tornadoes that struck Arkansas on March 14 and 15.
In coordination with the state, FEMA Individual Assistance teams will be available through Friday, May 23, at the Cushman Volunteer Fire Department at 50 Park St. in Cushman and the Ozarka College Lecture Hall at 218 College Drive in Melbourne. Both sites will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
FEMA staff at these locations will help homeowners and renters apply for federal disaster assistance, check the status of existing applications, make updates, and connect with local, state, and nonprofit recovery resources. They will also gather information about ongoing needs in affected communities.
Residents of Independence, Izard, Greene, Hot Spring, Jackson, Lawrence, Randolph, Sharp, and Stone counties may be eligible for aid if their losses are not covered by insurance.
FEMA workers will carry official photo identification. Residents are advised to ask for ID before sharing personal information, as official clothing can be easily imitated.
Those who cannot visit in person can apply at DisasterAssistance.gov, by using the FEMA app, or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362, available daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Central Time. Help is available in multiple languages.
