Pioneer Stadium will host a night of wrestling Friday to raise funds for Batesville Pioneer Athletics, according to Athletic Director Stu Smith (pictured).
The “Rumble on the River” event, sponsored by Gillihan’s Body Shop and First Community Bank, will feature Southern Championship Wrestling, which will begin with a 30-man royal rumble match and continue throughout the evening.
The main event will pit a team of Newport wrestlers against wrestlers representing Batesville. Smith will serve as referee for the match. The wrestling ring will be positioned at the 50-yard line of the football field.
Live musical entertainment will begin at 6 p.m., featuring Mike Foster and Friends with Nick Fudge. The band Lan-Law is scheduled to perform during intermission.
Ticket prices are set at three levels: VIP Meet and Greet tickets for $20, field tickets for $15, and general admission for $10. The venue’s concession stand will be open during the event.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Pioneer Athletics programs.
Smith visited with White River Now’s Chad Whiteaker about the big event. Listen to their conversation below:
