Motorists across Arkansas should expect increased military vehicle traffic on highways and interstates through the end of June as National Guard units travel to and from annual training exercises.
According to the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT), the movement began Friday, May 30, and involves convoys of large, tactical vehicles traveling from armories across the state to Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center in Barling.
The vehicles typically move slower than normal traffic, which could cause temporary slowdowns, particularly at the rear of convoys, where passing traffic may create congestion.
Drivers are urged to use caution when approaching or passing military vehicles. ARDOT recommends checking IDriveArkansas.com for current traffic conditions.
