Citizens Bank is proud to present the Fourth Annual Battle of the Bridge on Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, with kickoff at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium.
In a media release, the Batesville-based financial institution said:
“This football rivalry between the Batesville Pioneers and the Southside Southerners is more than a tradition—it’s an opportunity to celebrate, collaborate, and showcase the exceptional spirit of our community.
“This year’s event carries special significance as both districts come together to honor current and former educators and staff—individuals whose dedication has shaped generations of students and helped build the foundation of excellence in our schools.”
All honorees are invited to attend the Citizens Bank Community Tailgate from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by a recognition ceremony on the field before kickoff. (To receive free admission and be recognized, honorees are encouraged to pick up a special armband in advance. Armbands are available at the Southside Administration Office and the Batesville High School Office.)
“This game is a reminder of what makes our community special,” said Micah Beard, regional president of Citizens Bank. “It’s about more than football—it’s about coming together to support our students, celebrate our educators, and show what’s possible when we work side by side.”
“We’re honored to help create a space where our community can come together in celebration,” added Ashley Davis, assistant vice president, community engagement officer at Citizens Bank. “From the tailgate to the scholarships, every part of this night reflects the heart and values of our schools and the people who support them.”
Citizens Bank will continue its tradition of giving back through the Touchdown Bonus Program, donating $50 to each school’s booster club for every touchdown scored. The winning team will also receive an additional $250 bonus donation, supporting student programs and school activities.
The evening will also include the presentation of eight scholarships, awarded to outstanding students from each district.
The release said, “the scholarships reflect the business industry’s ongoing commitment to investing in the future of local youth and supporting their academic and career aspirations. Scholarships are generously funded by Citizens Bank, Farco, First Community Bank, Precise, and Wood Family Dealerships.
“While the scoreboard will reflect the outcome on the field, the true victory lies in the unity and generosity shared by our community. The Battle of the Bridge game is also a meaningful opportunity to raise funds that directly benefit students, programs, and educators—making a lasting impact in both districts. Every cheer, every touchdown, and every handshake contributes to something greater.
“Join us for an unforgettable evening of football, fellowship, and heartfelt recognition as we celebrate the legacy and future of Batesville and Southside.”
