As the nation marks National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, Bill Davis Trucking, Inc. and Bray Fast Freight, LLC are joining with the American Trucking Associations and the entire trucking industry to celebrate the millions of professional drivers who keep America’s freight moving safely and securely.
“The nation’s truckers are the lifeblood of our economy – delivering critical goods to farms, factories, stores, hospitals and homes,” said Becky Beasley, Bray Fast Freight’s safety director, said in a release. “National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a time to rally around our professional truck drivers and show them the appreciation they deserve every day. We are thrilled to recognize these men and women who show their dedication, perseverance, and determination on our nation’s highways.”
Celebrated annually, this year’s National Truck Driver Appreciation Week runs Sept. 14-20. Organizers say professional drivers consistently step up when they are needed most, powering the economy forward despite facing unprecedented obstacles.
Bill Davis Trucking and Bray Fast Freight are marking the week with daily events for employees, including healthy charcuterie lunch boxes, company lunches on Tuesday and Thursday, refreshments, goodie bags, and daily drawings for prizes.
According to the release, there are nearly 3.6 million professional truck drivers nationwide, including more than 100 at the Batesville-based companies. Collectively, truck drivers safely transport more than 11 billion tons of goods every year — accounting for nearly 73% of the nation’s freight. From food to fuel, medicine to clothing, truckers deliver the essential items families rely on, and 80% of U.S. communities depend solely on trucking for deliveries.
“This year, Bill Davis Trucking and Bray Fast Freight ask you to join us and ATA in recognizing the significant contributions our professional truck drivers make to our lives,” the companies said in a statement. “Their efforts contribute greatly to our quality of life and truly move America forward.”
The observance comes just days after the passing of Bill Davis, founder of Bill Davis Trucking. “Losing the founder of Bill Davis Trucking last week has saddened our organizations, but we know that BD would have wanted the celebration of drivers to go on,” the companies said. “We are proud and honored to continue the legacy he started more than 50 years ago. Though he will be missed, his presence will be felt for years to come.”
