Hillcrest High School’s media arts program earned top recognition at the recent Ozark Media Arts Festival in Springdale, taking home both Video Program of the Year and Photography Program of the Year awards. Media advisor Randy Story was also named Teacher of the Year.
The festival, which connects students with media industry professionals, presented Hillcrest with a $7,000 financial award to support the school’s growing media arts program. Story said the funding will help expand opportunities for students in the video and photography programs.
“We’re incredibly proud of this recognition,” Story said. “Our small program suddenly looms large in our community, and this gift will allow us to take larger steps in helping students express their ideas through art.”
Hillcrest’s achievements highlight the increasing influence of local media arts education and the festival’s role in promoting student creativity and career development across the region.
