The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Newport Police Department have joined forces to form a new joint tactical team designed to respond to high-risk situations across the county.

Sheriff Russell Brinsfield announced Friday that the partnership was developed after discussions with Newport Police Chief Larry Dulaney to combine training, personnel, and resources for critical operations.

Officers from both agencies have completed the Arkansas State Police SWAT School, receiving advanced tactical training to prepare for complex assignments.

The team will handle high-risk operations, including building entries, warrant services, and crisis response, throughout Jackson County.

“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to public safety and the well-being of every resident in Jackson County,” Brinsfield said. “Together, we’re building a safer community through teamwork, professionalism, and a unified mission to serve.”
