Rotary Club of Batesville calls for Angel Tree support to make holidays brighter for nearly 400 children

The Rotary Club of Batesville is asking for community support to help make Christmas brighter for local families, as nearly 400 children are waiting to be adopted through this year’s Angel Tree program — a sharp increase from about 300 last year that highlights the growing need in the area.

Organizers say the rising number reflects a deepening community need.

“The demand is greater this year, and we are doing everything we can to meet it,” said Deanna Green, chair of the Rotary Club of Batesville’s Angel Tree community service project. “With almost 400 children waiting, we’re asking our neighbors to help ensure every child experiences the joy and hope of Christmas.”

Names of children may be picked up at these Batesville businesses: Bank of Cave City, 1141 E. Main St., Suite 100; Citizens Bank, 655 S. St. Louis St.; and First Community Bank, 1325 Harrison St.

Employees of LaCroix Precision Optics and FutureFuel Chemical Co. may adopt children through their employer groups, and members of First Presbyterian Church may participate through the church office.

Those who adopt an angel are asked to purchase age-appropriate gifts from the child’s wish list or choose items of their own, helping ensure every child receives something meaningful on Christmas morning.

Participants are asked to return gifts by the close of business Thursday, Dec. 11, to the same location where the child’s name was selected.

The Angel Tree program, organized annually by the Rotary Club of Batesville, provides holiday gifts to local children who might otherwise go without.
