A semi truck and trailer sit off Highway 167 at Ramsey Mountain in Batesville
Independence County officials plan to close Highway 167 at Ramsey Mountain on Tuesday evening as crews work to recover a semi truck and trailer that drove off a curve early that morning.
The highway will shut down at 6 p.m. while wreckers move into place, county officials said. After the initial set-up, one lane will be utilized for the recovery, and traffic will be directed around the scene.
The crash occurred around 2:18 a.m. as the northbound truck left the roadway and went over the edge of the curve. County Judge Kevin Jeffery estimated the truck fell more than 50 feet but remained upright.
The driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses told authorities the truck made no attempt to turn at the curve.
Crews are expected to continue recovery work into the evening.
