Bowman Museum Presents “A Kitchen Table Conversation: Women in the Cattle Industry”

flyer-1696403

The Bowman Museum and Crook County Historical Society invite the community to a special public program, A Kitchen Table Conversation: Women in the Cattle Industry, a roundtable discussion celebrating the voices, experiences, and legacy of women in ranching.
This program will bring together six women whose lives and livelihoods are directly connected to the cattle industry. Representing decades of ranching experience, these women will share personal stories, challenges, traditions, and changes they have witnessed across generations. The conversation will reflect the kind of storytelling that has long taken place around kitchen tables—honest, insightful, and rooted in lived experience.

From daily ranch work to family life, stewardship of the land, and the evolving role of women in agriculture, the panel will explore how women have shaped and sustained the cattle industry in Central Oregon and beyond. Together, their perspectives offer a powerful
look at continuity, resilience, and the vital role women play in ranching communities.

This informal, moderated discussion will allow for shared reflection and audience engagement, creating space to listen, learn, and honor the contributions of women whose work is often behind the scenes but foundational to the region’s history and economy.

A Kitchen Table Conversation: Women in the Cattle Industry is part of the Bowman Museum’s ongoing mission to preserve and share the stories that define Crook County’s past and present.
