Arkansas has the highest share of fatal traffic accidents involving aggressive or careless driving in the United States, according to a newly updated auto insurance study.
The analysis, published by LendingTree, found that nearly half of all deadly vehicle accidents in the state are linked to behaviors such as road rage, careless driving, tailgating, or inattentive operation.
Of Arkansas’ 547 fatal crashes, 47.2% involved at least one unsafe driving factor tracked by the study, representing 258 deadly accidents overall. Louisiana ranked a close second at 46.2%, followed by New Jersey at 45.1%.
The report highlights a severe gender and age gap nationwide in traffic safety. Men were found to have caused nearly 80% of all aggressive or careless fatal crashes across the country, compared to just over 19% caused by women. Drivers from the millennial generation also accounted for a disproportionate share, causing more than a third of the deadly incidents nationwide.
