It’s official: Cave City will receive a $500,000 grant to upgrade its sewer main system, part of more than $11.9 million in state funding announced this week for infrastructure and community projects across Arkansas.
Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission said Thursday that 65 cities and counties will benefit from grants aimed at improving public facilities, utilities, and quality of life.
The sewer main improvements will address longstanding infrastructure needs in Cave City.
“From Norfork to McGehee to Horatio, Arkansans across the state deserve to live in safe, vibrant communities, and that’s why these grants are so important,” Sanders said in a statement.
The funding comes through the Community Development Block Grant and Rural Community Grant programs, which provide annual awards for projects such as water and sewer systems, drainage, senior centers, and fire safety facilities.
In addition to Cave City, communities across the state secured grants for wastewater treatment upgrades, drainage repairs, and other public works projects.
