A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday for The Hub, the new Batesville School District Pioneer Family Resource Center.
The Hub, which is located in the Federal Building (the home of the Batesville Post Office) at 490 E. College, will offer services for families in the Batesville School District, such as assistance with job interviews, a food and clothes pantry, registration for students and home visiting programs, and other projects for parents at the nearly 3,200 square-foot-facility.
“We want families to feel comfortable coming in here,” Batesville School Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Douglas told the crowd. “We really want this to be a usable space for our entire community.”
Batesville School District Superintendent Michael Hester told attendees The Hub’s opening is another example of positive partnerships in the community, noting the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce was critical in facilitating The Hub’s move into its new location.
“In my 38 years of experience, I’ve never seen such a partnership (and) community mindfulness,” Hester said of the community.
