news-2020-1000x563954613-1

A Stone County Sheriff’s Deputy has been placed on administrative leave by Sheriff Brandon Long after allegations of assault were reported by his estranged wife.

Sheriff Long said he has contacted the Arkansas State Police to investigate the allegations lodged against the deputy, whose name the sheriff did not include in his press release.

Long added that it is the department’s view that all should be presumed innocent until proven guilty and “…we must also ensure that all ethical measures are taken.”

Sheriff Long, in his press release, said “After being sworn in as your Sheriff, I vowed to make the proper changes necessary to make a better department, and bring a new standard of transparency and law enforcement to Stone County. This standard includes employee accountability where those responsible are held accountable for their actions whether it be ON or OFF DUTY.”

Sheriff Long said “no further details will be released by his office until the Arkansas State Police conclude their investigation.”
