The Batesville School District is scheduled to hold a community meeting on Monday, May 6.
Superintendent Dr. Ken James is expected to address the state of the district, following up on topics raised during the April “City and County Connections” meeting with Batesville Mayor Rick Elumbaugh and Independence County Judge Kevin Jeffery. (Click here to read more about that meeting from White River Now.)
Monday’s meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Batesville Community Center (Rooms A and B), which is located at 1420 20th St.
District enrollment numbers, legislative audit information, a construction project update, expectations moving forward, and a Q&A session will be part of the agenda.
In a recent episode of the district’s podcast, Pioneer Update, James said the meeting is going to help set the stage for where the district currently stands.
“It’s very important for all of our patrons to understand what the landscape is at the Batesville School District,” James said in the episode. “We’re going to talk about enrollment. We’re going to talk about the fact that we have lost some students, and what does that mean for us, what are the implications, and what do we have to do moving forward to make sure we change that paradigm because schools and loss of students is not a good equation.
“We’re going to talk about expectations across the school district. We’re looking across-the-board at everything that we do.”
For those unable to attend the meeting, there is a Google Meet link (click here) as well as a recording that will be posted by the district.
