More information has been released on a June shooting in Desha.
According to court documents filed Thursday in circuit court, Independence County deputies were dispatched to a home on West McClendon Street in Desha on June 9 regarding an altercation that led to the shooting of a man identified as Donnell Robinson.
Moments later, a man identified as Itrevone J. Sain (pictured below), 25, called dispatch and informed authorities he was the other person involved in the altercation. The court documents said Sain requested officers to come to the West McClendon Street residence so he could turn himself in. Deputies arrived and arrested Sain without incident.
After a search warrant was executed at the McClendon Street residence and witnesses were interviewed, county law enforcement officers questioned Sain. He told officers that Robinson had attacked him in his home after a verbal disagreement. Sain said he felt threatened by Robinson’s size and was “offended” that Robinson “would attack him in his own home and in front of his children.” According to the interview, Sain retrieved a firearm when Robinson went outside.
Once outside, Sain told officers Robinson still refused to leave and was disrespecting him. Fearing Robinson would attack him again, Sain said he fired warning shots while Robinson was still outside his vehicle.
The court documents noted that when Sain was asked in which direction he fired the warning shots, he did not answer.
On June 18, Robinson was interviewed by county investigators at the White River Health intensive care unit. He told authorities that he and his wife left the residence after Sain grabbed his hair during an argument. While walking to his vehicle, Sain followed the couple outside, “threatening them.” When they entered their vehicle, Robinson said Sain fired at him multiple times through the driver’s side window until his firearm jammed.
The couple was then able to leave the residence. Robinson and his wife were later able to meet an ambulance at a nearby convenience store.
The court documents said Robinson sustained four gunshot wounds, all to the left side of the upper body and waist.
Sain is charged with one felony count of committing a terroristic act. His bond has been set at $200,000.
