The Mountain View School Board is considering the potential closure of the Timbo campus as part of an ongoing evaluation of the district’s financial situation.

Declining student enrollment and increasing costs of essential items have prompted discussions about the district’s financial sustainability, officials said. The district operates on 28.91 mills, the second-lowest millage rate among all public schools in Arkansas.

“The priority of the Mountain View School District is to provide the best possible education for our students while maintaining fiscal responsibility,” the district said in a statement. “The district is committed to exploring every avenue to ensure its long-term sustainability.”

No final decisions have been made, and the school board plans to continue assessing the situation before moving forward.
