A Searcy teenager is in stable condition after being shot in the neck while driving late Saturday night, authorities said.
According to the Searcy Police Department, officers were dispatched around 11:30 p.m. on May 10 to what was initially reported as a single-vehicle accident. Before officers arrived, the caller informed dispatchers that the driver, a juvenile, had been shot.
The teen was transported by NorthStar EMS to Unity Health–White County Medical Center, then transferred to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, where they remain in stable condition, police said.
During the investigation, officers located spent shell casings in the yard of a residence in the 1000 block of West Academy St., near the scene of the incident. One suspect, Edgar Gameros (pictured), 44, of Batesville, was taken into custody at the location.
The Searcy Police Special Response Team was deployed to secure the home. Two additional men were arrested at the scene on unrelated charges, authorities said.
Gameros was later questioned by detectives and booked into the White County Detention Center on a charge of terroristic act, a Class B felony.
The investigation is ongoing.
