Ozarka College held its first Industrial Signing Day on May 2, marking a new tradition aimed at celebrating students entering the workforce directly from technical programs. The event honored several students from the college’s Welding Technology program who officially signed employment agreements with Bad Boy Mowers, a major regional manufacturer.

The ceremony took place at the John E. Miller Education Complex and drew college faculty, administrators, family members, and industry representatives. Students were individually recognized for their accomplishments as they formally committed to begin careers with Bad Boy Mowers, which is based in Batesville and known for its zero-turn mowers and outdoor equipment.

“Ozarka is proud to celebrate the hard work and dedication of these students as they take the next step into the workforce,” said Ozarka College President Dr. Josh Wilson. “Events like this are more than just ceremonies—they symbolize a partnership between education and industry that creates opportunities and fuels regional growth.”

Speakers at the event included Dr. Wilson, Ozarka welding faculty, and representatives from Bad Boy Mowers. Each praised the students’ technical skills, discipline and readiness to contribute to the workforce.

“This day represents the culmination of classroom instruction, hands-on experience, and real-world readiness,” said Marcus Orf, Ozarka’s vice president of advancement and workforce development. “We’re incredibly proud of these students and look forward to seeing the impact they’ll make in the industry.”

College officials said they plan to expand the Industrial Signing Day in future years to include students from other technical programs and additional employers. The initiative aligns with Ozarka’s focus on workforce development and building strong industry partnerships in north central Arkansas.
