Kathryn Smith, elementary parent center para-professional at the Midland School District, was recently named to receive the May “Citizens Bank Shine Like a Mustang Award.”

In a media release, Citizens Bank said Smith’s influence on many levels of the school does not go unnoticed by her colleagues:

  • “Kathy runs the Parent Center, subs for our teachers, and facilitates our backpack program. She is also always helping with a student who needs it. She is a wonderful person and works very hard!
  • “She does so much for the school and the Parent Center alike. She also subs, helps with ISS, runs our Food Box and Angel Tree programs, and puts on our egg hunt each year, among a lot of other things! Kathy is amazing.”

With this program, Citizens Bank and Midland School District aim to recognize staff members who shine in their role as a Mustang to live out the district’s vision to engage learning at high levels and embrace challenges without fear of failure. Staff nominate the award recipients who receive a Certificate of Excellence, a $25 gift card, and a 16-ounce insulated cup from Citizens Bank. The award is presented at the Midland School Board meeting each month.
