A Sharp County man has been arrested on three felony counts of fentanyl trafficking.
According to court documents filed Tuesday, agents with the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, along with the Independence County Sheriff’s Office and the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office, received information that Billy R. Burge Jr., 43, of Sidney, had been dealing large amounts of fentanyl and other controlled substances.
The charges were filed after investigators used a confidential informant to purchase fentanyl from Burge on three separate occasions in Independence County, according to an affidavit.
Burge, who is also being charged as a habitual offender, was arrested on Tuesday and is being held in the Independence County Jail on a $200,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for June 10, 2025.
