Citizens Bank recently presented its inaugural Citizens of the Year Award to Billy Ken and Starlia Rowsey, recognizing their contributions to the city of Imboden and surrounding communities.
According to a release from Citizens Bank, the award is part of a new initiative led by Kimberly Moore, Citizens Bank branch manager in Imboden. The initiative aims to reflect the bank’s “People First” mission and celebrate individuals who demonstrate community spirit, service, and leadership.
The award includes a commemorative plaque and a cash prize.
The selection committee included Moore, Mark Owens, senior vice president and commercial loan officer for Citizens Bank; Chris Jones, mayor of Imboden; and Clifford Rorex, superintendent of Sloan-Hendrix Schools.
Billy Ken Rowsey, owner of D&H Contracting, employs 130 local people, significantly contributing to the local economy. Starlia Rowsey has been instrumental in creating community traditions, including the annual Trunk or Treat event and Christmas in the Park, for which she purchased and installed festive lights, the release said.
Both honorees are known for their support of the Sloan-Hendrix School District, local churches and small businesses. The bank said their generosity and commitment often go unnoticed as they prefer to serve quietly.
