A routine inspection has led to the immediate and indefinite closure of the Highway 37 bridge, located about 0.8 miles south of Highway 14 in Amagon.
According to a release from the Arkansas Department of Transportation, the closure will allow crews to repair the bridge’s substructure. While the highway will remain open to local traffic on either side of the closure, through-traffic will be redirected.
A signed detour is in place for motorists. Northbound traffic on Highway 37 will be rerouted using Highway 145 north of Beedeville to Highway 14, then back to Highway 37 in Amagon. Southbound traffic will follow the reverse detour: from Highway 37 in Amagon to Highway 14, then to Highway 145, and finally back to Highway 37.
Digital message boards, construction barrels, barricades and signage have been deployed to notify drivers of the closure and detours.
