A Horseshoe Bend man was found dead early Monday following a lawn mower accident, according to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office.
Dispatch received a call around 1 a.m. reporting the man missing. The caller said he had borrowed a lawn mower the previous afternoon to cut his grass but had not returned it, and his yard remained unmowed.
Deputies launched a search and located the man and the mower around 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of North Shore Drive and Michigan Avenue.
Authorities said the man was mowing near the intersection when the mower overturned into a culvert hidden by underbrush. The mower landed on top of him, fatally trapping him beneath it.
The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The incident remains under investigation.
