Arkansas Hospice will host a volunteer training session in Batesville on Thursday, July 24, offering residents a chance to learn more about the organization and explore ways to support patients and families receiving end-of-life care.
The session will begin at 10 a.m. at the Arkansas Hospice office located at 3000 Jennings Lane, Suite C. Lunch will be provided for attendees.
Volunteers play a crucial role in the hospice care team, offering companionship, emotional support and practical assistance to patients wherever they call home. Opportunities include making personal visits or phone calls, sitting with patients to give caregivers a break, and assisting with office tasks and special events. Volunteers can also offer specialized services such as sewing or pet therapy.
“Whatever your talents might be, you can make a big difference for our Arkansas Hospice patients and families,” said Hannah Alvarado, volunteer coordinator. “Your help is always welcome and appreciated.”
All volunteers must complete training and certification and meet requirements including a background and driving record check, proof of driver’s license and insurance, and health screenings such as a flu shot and tuberculosis test.
Arkansas Hospice is the state’s largest nonprofit provider of hospice services. More information about volunteering can be found at ArkansasHospice.org/volunteer.
Those interested in attending the training may register by emailing halvarado@arkansashospice.org or by calling 870-793-1938 or 877-794-1938 (toll-free) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
