Wanted: Stephen Whaples
Authorities in Izard County are searching for a man who fled from law enforcement officers twice in less than 24 hours.
Stephen Whaples, 36, of Calico Rock, first fled on foot from an Arkansas State Police trooper Sunday afternoon on Dolph Road, according to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office. A search of the area was unsuccessful.
At approximately 3:15 a.m. Monday, deputies were called to the 1500 block of West Crossroads after a report that Whaples had been seen in the area. He reportedly fled on foot again before deputies arrived.
The Arkansas Department of Corrections dog team was called to assist. As of Monday morning, the search remains ongoing.
Whaples is wanted for parole violations.
Officials are urging the public not to approach Whaples if seen. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Izard County Sheriff’s Office at 870-368-4203 or call 911.
