Mickey Ahititt Naphoxay
A South Carolina man wanted in a 2022 attempted murder was arrested Thursday in Sharp County after a tip from the U.S. Marshals Service, authorities said.
Sharp County Sheriff Shane Russell said deputies and U.S. Marshals located 23-year-old Mickey Ahititt Naphoxay apparently hiding in a camper in the Ozark Acres community, just after 1 p.m. on Aug. 21 and took him into custody without incident. Naphoxay was being held at the Sharp County Detention Center pending extradition to South Carolina, Russell said.
“The Sharp County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the cooperation and assistance of the United States Marshals Service in the safe apprehension of this fugitive,” Russell said in the release.
Union County, South Carolina, authorities had sought Naphoxay in connection with a March 1, 2022, shooting at the South Hills Sports Complex in Union that left an 18-year-old wounded; investigators there charged Naphoxay with attempted murder shortly after the incident. Another 18-year-old, Patrick Greer Williams, of Union, was charged with a felony after the fact in connection with the incident. Local news releases at the time said the victim was hospitalized and expected to survive.
