The Stone County Museum will host a grand reopening on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, following extensive renovations to the historic building.
The reopening, located at 206 School Avenue, will begin at 1 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the front steps. Visitors can then take a guided tour of the newly renovated rooms and get a “glimpse” of the next phase of remodeling. The museum will be open to the public until 4 p.m.
Built in 1928, the building originally served as the Mountain View Special School District No. 30 School. It is listed on the Arkansas Register of Historic Places.
The Stone County Historical Society, which operates the museum, hopes to restore the exterior to its original condition and seek a nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. For more information on the Stone County Historical Society, visit its website by clicking here.
