Three people have been charged following a weeklong compliance check of registered sex offenders in Independence County, authorities said.
Sheriff Shawn Stephens said Thursday that the Independence County Sheriff’s Office, working with Arkansas Probation and Parole and the Batesville Police Department, conducted the checks during the week of Aug. 18.
According to Stephens, individuals with minor violations were given five days to update their information, and all but one came into compliance. Investigators determined that two individuals were completely out of compliance.
In total, three people — Bradford Anderson, Rose Roberts and Richard Hamric — were charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration. Stephens said two of them also face charges of failing to update their driver’s licenses with the correct address.
The sheriff’s office said the checks are part of ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and enforce sex offender registration laws.
