Drivers across Independence, Stone, and other surrounding counties are seeing regular unleaded prices mainly in the $2.60–$2.95 per gallon range this week, according to the latest GasBuddy updates.
That’s well below the national average, which analysts say has stayed near $3 a gallon as summer demand fades. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said prices could remain steady or even dip further into the fall if storms or refinery issues don’t disrupt supply.
“I expect that average gas prices will continue to decline in the weeks ahead in most states — assuming hurricane season remains quiet,” De Haan said.
GasBuddy’s price data are crowd-sourced from user reports and station postings and can change frequently as stations update their prices and signs.
