A Melbourne woman has been charged after police say she intentionally rammed another vehicle at a Salem car dealership last month, injuring another woman.

Amanda Kay Edwards, 38, was arrested after Salem police said she struck a parked Dodge Challenger with her white Genesis GV70 on Aug. 16 at Hill’s Auto Sales. The impact pushed the car into a woman who was standing in front of it, investigators said.

According to the court information, the victim told police that Edwards intentionally rear-ended her vehicle, causing it to strike her and knock her to the ground. She also reported that Edwards kept accelerating, pushing the car toward her again, and said she believed Edwards was trying to kill her.

Police said Edwards had been seen earlier that day driving erratically at high speeds before pulling into the dealership lot. Officers wrote in court filings that her actions were reckless and showed “extreme indifference to the value of human life.”

Fulton County Circuit Court issued an arrest warrant on Sept. 8. Edwards is charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor reckless driving.

Her bond was initially set at $20,000 before being reduced to $10,000. Court records show she posted bond Sept. 16 and has been released pending further proceedings.
