Citizens Bank’s Ashley Davis presenting Batesville High School teacher Robert Seat with a certificate and gift
Citizens Bank and the Batesville School District have recognized Robert Seat of Batesville High School as the September recipient of the Citizens Bank “Above & Beyond” Award during Monday night’s School Board meeting.
According to a release from the bank, Seat was nominated for his outstanding commitment to student success and his tireless efforts both in and out of the classroom.
His contributions include:
- Teaching four upper-level math courses—AP Statistics, Advanced Algebra II, Advanced Geometry, and Algebra III—each of which requires daily preparation and deep subject knowledge.
- Offering weekly after-school tutoring sessions that are open to all math students, providing extra help and encouragement beyond regular class hours.
- Sponsoring the Chess Club and Fantasy Game Club, giving students opportunities to engage in strategic and creative extracurricular activities.
- Assisting with the Mock Trial and Quiz Bowl teams, helping students develop critical thinking and academic competition skills.
- Preparing students each year for local and state math competitions, encouraging academic excellence beyond the classroom.
- Recently helping a student prepare for AP credits in math and science—courses not offered at BHS—by researching and providing online resources to help her compete for admission to top engineering schools.
- Creating a welcoming environment before and after school, with students frequently choosing to spend time in his classroom for support, mentorship, or simply a sense of belonging.
One colleague described Seat as someone who “doesn’t take credit for all that he does, but deserves so much for always going above and beyond what is expected of him in the classroom.”
Since 2012, Citizens Bank and the Batesville School District have recognized staff members who go “above and beyond” to realize the district’s mission to empower today’s students for tomorrow’s challenges. Staff in all schools and departments throughout the district nominate award recipients, who receive a Certificate of Excellence, and a gift from Citizens Bank. The award is presented at the Batesville School Board meeting each month.
