A Batesville man was arrested Saturday morning after police say he pointed a gun at a couple holding their children during a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex.

Xavier Dupree Garcia, 21, of Batesville, was charged with four counts of aggravated assault, all Class D felonies, according to police.

At about 7:14 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to an active domestic disturbance at College View Apartments on Lawson Drive. When Cpl. Stephen Schlotzhauer arrived, a man told him another resident had pulled a gun on him while he was holding his child, police said.

As Schlotzhauer walked down the hallway, he saw a man later identified as Garcia yelling and brandishing a firearm, according to the report. Officers ordered Garcia to drop the weapon, and he complied. The gun was seized as evidence.

Police said Garcia told officers that another man had “run down on” him and that he didn’t “want to deal with these people.”

Video footage from the apartment complex shows Garcia pointing a handgun at a man and a woman, each holding a child, authorities said. The video has no audio but depicts Garcia continuing to point the weapon as the couple retreats down the hall.

No injuries were reported. Garcia was taken into custody without incident.

His bond has been set at $100,000.
