An announcement from Stone County Sheriff Brandon Long

After thoughtful reflection and strong encouragement from members of our community, I am proud to officially announce my candidacy for re-election as YOUR Sheriff of Stone County.
Since taking office in 2023, it has been an incredible honor to serve the citizens of this county. The past few years have tested me in ways I never could have foreseen, presenting challenges I never imagined I’d have to face. During those challenging times, my team and this community were my anchors, reminding me of why I chose to serve as Sheriff. I’m deeply grateful for that support. With that, comes the decision to seek a second term and continue the progress we’ve made. When I ran for office in 2022, I promised to bring positive change, serve with compassion, and work tirelessly to build a safer, stronger community — and I have stayed true to that commitment every day.
Over the past three years, we’ve made significant strides in public safety, modernized our strategies, increased our training, and worked hard to rebuild trust between the Sheriff’s Office and the people we serve. I promised to go after those poisoning our communities with fentanyl and meth, and I kept that promise. Through targeted operations like Operation Ice Stone, we’ve successfully removed numerous drug dealers from our streets. We’ve also introduced two narcotic-detecting K9s and increased patrols in high-risk areas to further strengthen our fight against drugs.
We have a Detective specifically assigned to special victim crimes such as domestic violence, rapes, sexual assaults, and crimes against children. New patrol vehicles have been added to our fleet that was funded 100% through the Inmate Commissary Fund — not with taxpayer money. Updated equipment through grants and fundraisers saving tax payer dollars. We have enhanced community engagement and increased community outreach within the county. Worked closely with our schools and school resource officers to raise drug awareness and teach internet safety. Implemented programs in the jail to help reduce recidivism, introduced new policies and made significant progress in many other areas.
None of this progress would have been possible without the outstanding team of deputies, detectives, dispatchers, and all staff that I am proud to work alongside. Their dedication, professionalism, and relentless commitment to serving the people of Stone County have been the driving force behind everything we’ve accomplished. These efforts and many more have made a real impact in our community. But there’s still work to be done.
As YOUR Sheriff, I’ve remained dedicated to protecting our families, upholding the law with fairness, and serving with dedication. I am seeking re-election so we can continue building on the progress we’ve made together. There is still work to be done and I would be honored to continue leading that charge.
I humbly ask for your vote and support on March 3, 2026. I would be honored to continue serving as YOUR Sheriff. Let’s keep moving forward, together.
Sheriff Brandon Long
