For families with young children in Batesville, a small church pantry is making a big difference. The Hope Lutheran Family Life Pantry at Hope Lutheran Church offers diapers, wipes, baby formula, and other essentials to families with children age 5 and younger — providing both practical help and spiritual encouragement twice a month.
The faith-based ministry opens its doors on the second Monday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. and again on the third Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m., when families can also enjoy a buffet-style breakfast. While parents receive supplies, children can play in a supervised area filled with books and toys.
According to a statement from the ministry, the pantry’s mission is to share the love of Jesus Christ through action — helping parents meet their children’s needs while also offering a place for comfort, prayer, and connection.
Open to parents, foster parents, and grandparents from Batesville and surrounding communities, the program serves families with at least one child under age 5. Participants must bring their child, an ID, and a birth certificate or hospital record on their first visit. Services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis as donations allow.
The pantry operates through community support from churches, nonprofits, local businesses, and individuals. Donations of diapers, wipes, baby formula, baby food, breakfast items, and paper goods are accepted year-round.
Those wishing to contribute or learn more can contact the pantry at 2415 E. Main St. in Batesville or by emailing hopelutheranfamilylifepantry@outlook.com.
