Jacob Lowell Smith
After nearly a week on the run, an Ash Flat man identified as a person of interest in the deaths of two Fulton County women has been taken into custody.
Fulton County Sheriff Jake Smith said Jacob Lowell Smith, 32, was apprehended around 8 p.m. Tuesday in Greene County by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Paragould Police Department, Arkansas State Police, and U.S. Marshals. Smith had an active warrant for absconding and will be held at the Greene County Detention Center.
Smith had been sought since Oct. 21, when deputies discovered the bodies of Tonya Stallings, 54, and Ashley Stallings, 33, inside a home on Sweet Clover Lane in Ash Flat. The Arkansas State Crime Laboratory is determining the cause and manner of death.
Multiple agencies, including Fulton and Baxter County authorities, spent several days searching for Smith, who officials described as armed and dangerous. Sheriff Smith said the investigation remains ongoing and that the case is still open.
