Runners, families, and community members are invited to kick off Thanksgiving morning with the annual Turkey Day 5K, a fun run and fundraiser supporting the Batesville Swim Team. The event will take place on Thursday, Nov. 28, at 600 Eagle Mountain Blvd., with the race beginning at 9 a.m.
Organizers describe the event as a celebration of fitness, fun, and community spirit. Participants of all ages are encouraged to take part, whether running competitively or walking with friends and family before the holiday meal.
Unique awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers. Following the race, participants are invited to stay for coffee and pie — a post-race tradition that organizers say adds to the festive atmosphere.
Proceeds from the Turkey Day 5K will benefit the Batesville Swim Team, helping provide resources and opportunities for local athletes.
Organizers encourage early arrival and plenty of holiday enthusiasm. As the event’s tagline says, “Come trot before you gobble.”
Swim team members Sam Sullins, Parker Rodgers, and Riz Walker recently dropped by the Arkansas 103.3 KWOZ/Greenway Equipment studio to visit about turkey “trotting” on Thanksgiving day. Listen to their conversation below.
