A new SkyCam in Cave City is set to provide real-time weather monitoring and improve local emergency response, thanks to a partnership led by the Bank of Cave City.

The project was made possible through collaboration among the Cave City Fire Department, Cave City School District, the City of Cave City, Stanley Electric, and Arkansas Weather Watchers. The live camera will give residents and officials direct visuals of developing weather systems, addressing radar blind spots common in rural areas located far from major radar centers in Memphis and Little Rock.

The Cave City Fire Department, which responded to the EF3 tornado that struck the city on March 14, will help oversee the camera. The department lost both fire stations and numerous community structures in that storm.

“This SkyCam gives us a critical set of eyes on the sky,” said Fire Chief Billy Penn. “In rural areas like ours, every second counts.”

Arkansas Weather Watchers and the fire department will maintain the system under normal conditions, while the National Weather Service will assume control during severe weather to provide alerts.

“This SkyCam is more than a piece of equipment,” said Crystal Crow, marketing director at Bank of Cave City. “It’s a symbol of how we move forward together—prepared, connected, and committed to each other. It’s also a way to equip our fire department with the tools they need to stay on top of their game and keep our community safe. Bank of Cave City is honored to stand alongside our local heroes and weather partners in this effort. Together, we’re building a safer, empowered Cave City.”

The live feed will be available on the Bank of Cave City, City of Cave City, Cave City School District, and Arkansas Weather Watchers websites.
