Four people, including a Louisiana couple, were killed Monday afternoon in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 65 in rural Searcy County, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.
The crash happened around 2:37 p.m. when a northbound Chevrolet Silverado driven by Dennis L. Tippen, 69, of Jonesboro, Louisiana, crossed the center line and collided with a southbound Jeep Gladiator, troopers said.
Tippen and his passenger, Julie K. Tippen, 63, were both killed in the crash. The driver of the Jeep, Jessica G. West, 44, of Saint Joe, and a minor passenger also died at the scene, according to the report.
State police said the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the collision.
