Lyon College will present its annual musical gift to the community with a Christmas concert and tree lighting at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, in Sloan Auditorium of the Brown Fine Arts Building, 2300 Highland Road.
This year’s concert will feature all of the college’s performing ensembles, including the Gospel Choir, Chamber Choir, and Symphonic Wind Ensemble. The regional community string orchestra, the White River Sinfonia, will also make a special guest appearance. Vera Richardson, a student organist and political science major, will open the concert with a work by Johann Pachelbel, known for his famed “Canon in D.”
The program will include seasonal favorites, traditional holiday selections, and an audience sing-along with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Chamber Choir.
Following the concert, guests are invited to gather on the steps of the Brown Fine Arts Building for a tree-lighting ceremony and refreshments.
The event is free and open to the public.
