A man wanted in Texas on an assault charge was arrested late Monday (Dec. 8) in Greers Ferry after local and county law enforcement officers located him at a residence inside the city limits.
The Greers Ferry Police Department said officers received information around 10 p.m. about the possible whereabouts of Nick Esparza, who was wanted on a nationwide extradition warrant. Authorities said Esparza had been evading law enforcement for several months.
Police said the warrant stems from an assault case in Texas, with a bond set at $250,000.
Greers Ferry officers, assisted by deputies from the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office, established a perimeter around the residence before taking Esparza into custody. Authorities said the arrest was made without incident.
Esparza was transported to the Cleburne County Detention Center, where he was held pending extradition to Texas.
No injuries were reported, and no additional details about the underlying assault charge were released.
