Arkansas drivers are seeing some relief at the pump heading into the Christmas travel period, as gasoline prices across the state fell by more than 10 cents in the past week.
GasBuddy.com reported Monday that the average price of gasoline in Arkansas dropped 10.2 cents per gallon over the last week to $2.35. The decrease comes as refinery maintenance wraps up, fuel supplies increase and winter demand remains lower than during the summer months.
According to GasBuddy’s survey of 1,826 gas stations statewide, the lowest-priced gasoline was selling for $2.06 per gallon, while the highest price reached $2.99.
Nationally, the average gas price also declined, falling 5.7 cents per gallon to $2.79.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said gas prices often settle near their lowest point of the year around Christmas, and 2025 is following that trend.
“Refinery maintenance has wrapped up, supplies are rising, and winter demand is much lower than in summer — all of which help keep a lid on prices,” De Haan said. He added that holiday travelers should see prices slightly lower than last Christmas, provided there are no unexpected disruptions.
De Haan also said early trends suggest lower prices could continue into next year, though he cautioned that gas prices can vary widely between states. He advised drivers traveling across state lines to watch for price differences that can range from 20 to 80 cents per gallon.
