The Cedar Ridge School Board on Tuesday night selected a familiar face to lead the district into the future, hiring Chris Davis as superintendent beginning with the 2026-27 school year.

Davis, who has more than two decades of experience in education, will assume the role under a three-year contract. He has spent several years at Cedar Ridge and currently serves as assistant superintendent and high school principal.

Superintendent Roger Ried will remain in his position through the 2025-26 school year, the school district said in a release on Wednesday.

“The district is gaining an excellent leader, and they are in good hands for a long time,” Ried said. “Chris has a servant’s heart, and he understands what is in the best interest of the students at Cedar Ridge.”

The board’s decision follows its action in January 2025, when Davis was hired as assistant superintendent for the 2025-26 school year while continuing his duties as high school principal. At that time, district leaders emphasized continuity in leadership and district culture.

Davis will officially begin his superintendent duties with the start of the 2026-27 school year.
