Local musician Danny Dozier recently visited with White River Now’s Chad Whiteaker about Saturday’s benefit concert honoring Mike Foster.
Friends and fellow musicians will gather this Saturday night at the Batesville Community Theatre for a special benefit concert honoring the late Mike Foster.
Longtime musical collaborator Danny Dozier joined White River Now’s Chad Whiteaker on Arkansas 103.3 KWOZ to discuss the event, which aims to raise funds for Foster’s family. Listen to their conversation:
Dozier remembered Foster as a “virtuosic” player capable of everything from Scott Joplin and Leon Russell to Floyd Kramer. The two played together for decades, notably in the 1980s band “The Raiders” and more recently in the “Lockhouse Orchestra.”
The evening’s lineup features a variety of local talent:
Opening Set: Gary Rounds, Tim Crouch, and Danny Dozier will perform an “unplugged” session.
Second Set: Nick Fudge and his band, who also shared a long history with Foster, will take the stage.
Closing Set: The Lockhouse Orchestra—featuring Sarah Jo Sample, Penny Wolf, John Parks, Jason Moser, and Jerry Bone—will conclude the night.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Batesville Community Theatre Performing Arts Center, located at 1295 East Main. Admission is free, but organizers will be “passing the hat” during intermission and collecting donations at the door to support the Foster family.
Refreshments will be available during the break.
