For many technical students at Ozarka College, graduation day isn’t just about receiving a diploma; it is about signing a contract for the future.

Ozarka College recently hosted its second annual Industrial Signing Day at its Melbourne campus, a ceremony recognizing graduating students as they officially commit to careers with regional industry partners.

Modeled after athletic signing events, the day serves as a formal bridge between technical education and the local workforce. The college recognized several participating school districts—including Salem, Mountain View, Rural Special, Melbourne, and Highland—for their role in preparing students for these career pathways.

“Industrial Signing Day is a powerful example of what can be achieved when education and industry work together,” said Dawsyn Cole, Ozarka director of workforce development. “We are proud of these students for taking this next step and grateful to our partners who continue to invest in building a strong, skilled workforce right here in our region.”

Two regional employers, Bad Boy Mowers and Urban Forge, received special recognition during the event. College officials noted that both companies have been instrumental in the area’s economic development by prioritizing the hiring of locally trained talent.
