Earlier this week, the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office released a probable cause affidavit detailing charges against former Hardy Police Chief Scott Rose, who was arrested June 2 on four charges, including two felony sex charges involving an underage victim.

Rose, who is free on a $100,000 bond, faces charges of second-degree sexual assault, sexual indecency with a minor, first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, and knowingly furnishing alcohol to a minor.

According to the affidavit, the teenage victim told investigators during a May 23 forensic interview that Rose engaged in “a long-term pattern of grooming and sexual boundary violations” beginning when she was 13 years old. The victim described Rose as her mother’s ex-boyfriend.

The victim alleged Rose regularly touched her inappropriately, provided her alcohol, and sent her a nude photograph when she was 13.

Sheriff Shane Russell said he received the allegations “on or about” March 31. The case involved multiple agencies due to its serious nature.

“I would like to take this opportunity to publicly extend my sincere gratitude to the Arkansas State Police, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their exceptional professionalism,” Russell said in a statement provided to media.
