Despite scattered showers in parts of north-central Arkansas on Monday, burn bans remain in effect across the region as of Sept. 16, 2025.
The restrictions prohibit all outdoor burning, including debris fires and campfires, in Independence County and several surrounding counties. Officials say recent rain has done little to ease fire danger, with dry vegetation, warm temperatures, and low humidity keeping conditions ripe for wildfires.
Violating a burn ban can result in fines or liability for damages. Residents are urged to check the Arkansas Forestry Division’s online map or follow local fire departments for updates.
