An Evening Shade couple has been charged after their 6-year-old child tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamines, and THC, authorities said.

Margaret Lafaye Ivie, 32, was arrested Aug. 10 after a traffic stop in Sharp County, where officers reported finding methamphetamine and paraphernalia in her vehicle, the 3rd Drug Task Force said. The child was later removed from the home she shared with her husband, Brian Ray Ivie, 34, after both adults tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the Department of Human Services.

A hair follicle test on the child returned positive results Sept. 17. Prosecutors charged both parents with introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another person, a Class Y felony, and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Brian Ivie was arrested Sept. 25 and Margaret Ivie the following day. Bonds were set at $25,000 each. Both have been released pending court appearances.
